John Davenport, Jr., PE - President

Mr. Davenport has nearly 20 years of comprehensive experience in the field of transportation engineering.  Ten of those years were spent with NCDOT where he developed invaluable relationships with NCDOT officials statewide.  Mr. Davenport has worked in the Raleigh, Greensboro and Winston-Salem offices of NCDOT in various positions related to transportation.  His last position was the Division Traffic Engineer for NCDOT Division Nine in Winston-Salem, NC.  In that position, he worked on many projects such as the ones proposed in the RFP.  Throughout the Triad, his projects can be found.  Since leaving NCDOT, Mr. Davenport has worked as a consultant, providing transportation engineering services to both public and private clients.  In January 2002, he started John Davenport Engineering, Inc.  Over the last decade, the firm has grown to a full service transportation engineering firm.

During his career, Mr. Davenport has tackled problem areas throughout the state with a sensible approach and solid engineering practices. Mr. Davenport is a team builder who specializes in dealing with complex problems that require the cooperation of multiple agencies.

Mr. Davenport has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (1991) from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and a Masters of Science in Engineering with Traffic Focus (1998) from North Carolina A & T State University in Greensboro, NC.  He also served as an Adjunct professor at North Carolina A & T where he taught transportation engineering (2000-2004).  Many of the younger transportation engineers in the Triad Area are his former students.

Mr. Davenport is a licensed professional engineer in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.
